Fishing limits – What are the limits on the fish we can catch?
The daily fishing limit anywhere on Lake Tahoe is 5 coldwater game fish total, with a maximum of 2 Mackinaw (Lake Trout). This regulation is shared and enforced identically by both the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Nevada Department of Wildlife.
Do I need a fishing license?
Yes — California and Nevada both require fishing licenses for ages 16 and up. We’ll direct you to the right link for your state when you book.
What fish can I catch on Lake Tahoe?
Our charters specialize in Mackinaw (Lake Trout), Rainbow Trout, and Brown Trout. Mackinaw are the big prize — they can top 30 lbs.
How long is a charter trip?
All of our trips are 4 hours dock-to-dock. We offer morning and afternoon departures year-round, weather permitting.
What should I bring?
Dress in layers — the lake is cold even in summer. Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, snacks, and any motion sickness medication if needed. We supply all the fishing gear.
Is this good for beginners?
Absolutely. Captain Chris and Brad love introducing new anglers to the sport. No experience is necessary — we’ll handle everything.
What is your cancellation policy?
Deposits are fully refundable up to 14 days before your trip. Cancellations within 14 days are non-refundable. We do not issue rain checks for weather — come prepared!
How many people can come on one charter?
Private charters hold 1–6 people. Open party charters require a 3-person minimum.
Do you fish in winter?
Yes! Lake Tahoe never freezes, making it a true year-round fishery. Winter is excellent for school-size Mackinaw in deep water.
Where do you depart from?
We depart from Incline Village, Nevada — based at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe.
